Playground, 1880s

Young students from Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, Missouri enjoy their recess out on the playground.  The original school building show here, also known as St. Joseph Commercial College, was located at 13th and Henry Streets, then the eastern edge of a growing city.  During the Civil War, the building was used to quarter, alternatively, both Union and Confederate troops.
