placeholderThe Manhattan College Archives and the Archives of the Christian Brothers primary purpose is to document the history of the College and the Institute and to provide research source material for representatives of the College, the Brothers of the Christian Schools and other members of the Lasallian community as well as scholars, authors and other interested persons who seek to evaluate the impact of the College and the Christian Brothers’ activities on the history of American Catholic educational, social, cultural and intellectual development.

The Core Mission of the Archives is:

  • To appraise, collect, preserve, organize, describe and make available records of historical, legal, fiscal, personal, and/or administrative value to the College and the De La Salle Christian Brothers
  • To provide adequate facilities for the retention and preservation of such records
  • To provide information services that will assist the operation of the College & the Districts
  • To serve as a resource center to stimulate and nourish creative teaching and learning
  • To facilitate research and scholarship by making available and encouraging the use of its collections by members of the College, the Districts and the community at large
  • To promote knowledge and understanding of the origins, aims, programs, and goals of Manhattan College, the De La Salle Christian Brothers, and of the development of these aims, goals, and programs
  • To implement records management by formulating policies and procedures that will ensure the collecting and preserving of archival materials.
